Roche

The Health & Care Forum is run in partnership with Roche

At Roche UK, we focus our energy and investment in developing tests and treatments that change lives and give us more quality time with the people we love. And, together with others, we’re solving healthcare’s greatest challenges; helping to achieve better results by connecting early diagnosis to targeted treatment and ongoing support. Healthcare matters to all of us. That’s why we work hard to ensure that all our new medicines are made available to those who need them through the NHS – wherever they live, whatever their circumstances. In 2020, more than 820 million Roche diagnostic tests were used to confirm, rule out or manage health conditions and over 712,000 patients benefited from our medicines and diabetes monitoring and insulin delivery system. During this period, we contributed £1.26bn to the UK economy, supporting over 21,000 jobs. Proud of what we do, we’re here because we care. In the UK we employ over 2,000 brilliant specialists who work together to transform the lives of patients and their loved ones. That’s what makes us who we are. That’s what makes us Roche UK.

Registered physiotherapists are autonomous practitioners, able to independently assess, diagnose and prescribe medicines. First contact physios increasingly manage the musculoskeletal (MSK) caseload in primary care. There is a well-established evidence base for physiotherapy interventions to improve outcomes for an ageing population, particularly those with long-term conditions including respiratory, stroke and arthritis, falls, and frailty.

Fight For Sight

Fight for Sight & Vision Foundation came together in an ambitious merger in April 2023 with a shared mission; to save sight and change lives. Together, we offer a unique proposition as a grant maker with a mission to solve two urgent questions:

  • How do we stop sight loss?
  • How do we live our lives?

In our mission to end sight loss, we fund ground-breaking research and develop scientific talent from early career researchers. We exist to advance treatments that end sight loss. We protect and grow the community of world-class scientists, technologists and data scientists across different condition types, who will fund tomorrow’s breakthroughs. As a growing mission driven community of blind, visually impaired and sighted people, we are on the move. We are determined to achieve equity in society for people with sight loss. We fund grassroots projects through grantees, while delivering blueprints for change, so that the impact we fund can be scaled nationwide. Through the evidence we gather scientifically and through social outreach, we influence policy and decision-making to ensure equality for all.
